Challenge
The client: a technology company from Texas. Like many tech brands, it was well known among its customers but showed up poorly in search for general queries, where a person does not know the brand yet and is only choosing a solution.
What made it hard
- Dependence on branded demand. Non-branded impressions were far lower than they could have been, which meant new customers found the company less often than its competitors.
- Little structured data. Only 35 pages had structured data, and there were no review snippets in the results at all. The site's listings looked plainer than the competitors'.
- The AI channel as a "black box." Traffic from ChatGPT was negligible, and there was not a single conversion that could be tied to AI assistants.
The goal: expand visibility for non-branded queries, make the snippets more appealing, and start getting real user actions from the AI channel.
What we did
We combined GEO and SEO into one program, because both rely on the same foundation: a machine-readable site and content that answers questions directly.
Structured data
We extended markup to important pages and added structured data for reviews. As a result, review snippets appeared in the results and made the listing stand out from competitors.
Non-branded SEO
We worked on the queries people use to find the company before they know the brand. We optimized pages for those queries and tracked recurring non-branded queries to see steady ranking improvement rather than one-off spikes.
GEO
We prepared content so AI assistants could use it in their answers: definitions, comparisons, answers to practical questions. We also set up tracking for ChatGPT sessions and AI channel events to see whether this traffic converts.
Reporting
We compared June-July 2026 with April-May, showing branded and non-branded metrics separately.
Results
Report for June-July 2026 compared with April-May 2026:
- Non-branded impressions: 6,628 → 14,790 (+123%).
- All impressions: 13,503 → 25,570 (+89.4%).
- Clicks: 404 → 530 (+31.2%).
- Organic sessions: 835 → 1,191 (+42.6%).
- Sessions from ChatGPT: 8 → 26 (+225%).
- Pages with structured data: 35 → 49.
- Impressions with review snippets: 0 → 286.
- 65.8% of recurring non-branded queries improved their position.
- First key events from the AI channel, including a purchase.
The absolute numbers from ChatGPT are still small, and we do not overstate their significance. But these are no longer just visits: the AI channel has delivered its first conversions, including a purchase.
What makes this project special
The main result here is not overall growth but its quality. Non-branded impressions more than doubled, and these are exactly the people who used to choose competitors because they did not know about the client. And the first purchases from the AI channel show that GEO can already deliver not just awareness but sales.
