What makes healthcare advertising different
Expensive clicks and long decisions. Competition for booking-intent queries in healthcare is intense, and patients rarely book on the spot. They compare clinics, read about the procedure and check contraindications. That is why ads should land on the page for that specific treatment, not on the homepage, so the visitor finds answers and can book right away.
Google's healthcare ad policies. Some medical topics are restricted. Ads for prescription drugs and online pharmacies, for example, fall under separate rules, and personalized advertising policies prohibit targeting audiences based on health conditions. We build campaigns so they do not run into disapproved ads or limited audiences.
Lots of irrelevant searches. Medical queries attract people looking for jobs, training, free consultations or general reference information. Without careful negative keyword work, the budget goes to people who will never become patients.
Competitors with bigger budgets. Clinic chains and doctor directories can afford to spend far more. A smaller practice has to win on precision: the right queries, the right hours, the right locations.
How we build clinic campaigns
- Appointment economics. Together with you, we define how much the clinic can pay for a new patient in each specialty. A GP consultation and a premium aesthetic treatment need different targets.
- Conversions. We set up tracking for calls, booking forms and messaging clicks in GA4 and Google Ads, and enable enhanced conversions. Without this, automated bidding optimizes for random clicks.
- Structure. Search campaigns by specialty and treatment, separate brand campaigns, Performance Max with quality signals, and location targeting for each branch.
- Ads and landing pages. Copy with no promises of guaranteed results, plus assets such as address, phone and service lists. The landing page answers exactly the query the person clicked on.
- Weekly optimization. Negative keywords, bids, budgets across specialties, ad scheduling and A/B tests.
- Data for SEO. Queries that lead to bookings in ads become priorities for SEO pages, so organic growth happens where demand is already proven.
Common problems in clinic ad accounts
- Any click on the page counts as a conversion, rather than a call or booking.
- Every ad sends traffic to the homepage regardless of the treatment.
- No negative keywords, so the budget is spent on job and reference searches.
- Brand searches are unprotected, and patients looking for the clinic by name see directories first.
- A single campaign for every specialty, so expensive treatments drain budget from high-volume ones, or the other way round.
Results from our projects
For a medical clinic with four locations we run four campaigns, including Performance Max and brand campaigns. After we reworked the structure and ad copy, Performance Max clicks grew by 72.7% at nearly unchanged spend, and the CTR of brand campaigns improved from 4.79% to 5.95%. All of this happened in the first month.
For an aesthetic medicine clinic competing with players that have noticeably larger budgets, we focused ads on booking-intent queries and use the campaign data to prioritize SEO. Pages that have proven their value in paid search get strengthened first. Combined with SEO, this contributed to 79% growth in organic clicks from August 2025 to March 2026.
Timelines and what you get each month
The first leads usually arrive within days of launch. Another 2-4 weeks go into optimizing bids, negatives and ad copy until the cost per appointment stabilizes. Automated strategies and Performance Max need accumulated conversion volume, so we watch bids especially closely during the first weeks.
Each month you receive a report on spend, the number and cost of calls and bookings for each specialty and location, a list of campaign changes and recommendations for the next period. The Google Ads account belongs to you, and we work in it with the access you grant.
Landing pages that turn a click into a booking
Even a perfectly built campaign wastes money if the patient lands on a generic page after clicking. For clinic ads we create or refine treatment pages using a few simple rules. The headline mirrors what the person searched for. Above the fold they see a price or price range, a tap-to-call phone number and a booking button. Below come the doctor who performs the treatment, indications, contraindications, preparation and answers to common questions. The page loads quickly on mobile, since many patients look for a clinic on their phone. Google factors landing page quality into its auction, so a strong page lowers your cost per click. Over time, the same pages start bringing in patients from organic search as well.
Who this is for
- private clinics that need appointments now, while SEO is still building momentum;
- aesthetic clinics and dental practices with high-value treatments;
- multi-location practices that need to split budget across cities;
- clinics that have run ads before but cannot tell how many patients they brought in.
